Jose Gomez-Arroyo, MD, PhD. Clinician-Scientist Training Program
Medical School: Escuela de Medicina Ignacio Santos - Tec de Monterrey, Mexico
Residency: University of Cincinnati
Jose joined the University of Cincinnati after a long research track. He moved from "La ciudad de México" to Richmond, VA in 2010 to start graduate school in molecular biology and genetics. After graduation he completed his postdoctoral training at Johns Hopkins University before moving with his girlfriend (now wife!) and his wiener dog (Tobias) to Europe. Jose worked in the Netherlands until he matched for residency at UC.
His primary interest are pulmonary vascular diseases and right ventricular failure, in particular pathobiological mechanisms. He is interested in translational science both at the diagnostic and therapeutic level. His clinical interests also include lung cancer diagnostics and interstitial lung diseases.
In his spare time he enjoys photography and graphic design. He is particularly interested in astrophotography (and hopefully one day deep space) as well as black and white portrait photography. His wife is both his muse and assistant! He loves biostatistics and bioinformatics. He spends an awful amount of time on Youtube learning photography and watching pro-level Smash Bros Ultimate tournaments.
